Sonic Mania isn’t the only Sonic game that Sega has planned for 2017. At Sonic the Hedgehog 25th anniversary celebration at San Diego Comic Con, Sega unveiled the first trailer for Project Sonic, a new game brought to you by the same people who brought you Sonic Generations.
Project Sonic is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC, NX and Xbox One.
According to the above teaser trailer, Project Sonic brings the two variations of Sonic last seen in Sonic Generations: his current incarnation and his Sega Genesis era model.
Past that, there’s not much we know other than “the darkest of times”, and it shows Sonic sprinting through a world that’s apparently been destroyed by robots, as well as encouraging players to “join the resistance” and dates Project Sonic for Holiday 2017.

My Take: Honestly, I’m dissapointed. Sonic Mania looks like the Sonic we’ve wanted since Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Project Sonic? I don’t think people are really excited about this, but I’ve been wrong before.
Most interesting here, is that the game is coming to the NX. Maybe it’s a launch title? Who knows, but I’m intrigued by all these NX confirmations we’ve been getting lately.
