Sonic is back. No, I’m not talking about Sonic Boom. I’m talking about the return of 2D Sonic, which we got a glimpse of in Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
Introducing Sonic Mania. The new entry in the mainline Sonic series is currently slated to launch in Spring 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
This new, 2D Sonic adventure asks you to think back on your memories of playing your (or your friends’) Sega Genesis and dashing around the various zones, because like Sonic says, you just gotta go fast. Playable, returning characters also include Miles “Tails” Prower, and Knuckles, and will also have new abilities like Sonic’s Down Dash. On tp of that, you’ll also be shown new worlds and stages, as well as revisiting the classic stages and worlds with “new twists”, members of Sega said during Sonic Mania‘s reveal.
Oh, and if you’re on the show floor of San Diego Comic Con, you can play it at Sega’s booth, #2842. If you end up playing it, let us know on Twitter what you thought of it. I’m @AustinBelzer there, and Chris @Heazie.

My Take: As you might’ve seen on my Twitter feed, I’m hyped for this game, because 2D Sonic is back and looking damn fine doing it.I may not follow each Sonic release with bated breath, but I was pretty intrigued with Sonic Boom and those other 3D Sonic games.
