Indie developer Pixelated Milk is looking to make a splash with their first game, titled Regalia – Of Men and Monarchs.  As many first time developers do, they had an idea they thought would be a great game and took their idea to Kickstarter.  After fronting their own money on the project, the best way to complete their vision was to ask the community for help, and help the community did.  When it was all said and done, over $90K was raised for the company out of Warsaw, Poland, and numerous stretch goals were reached (the original ask was for $40K).  That ensured voice acting, motion capture, a major soundtrack, and more.

 

One big goal that was reached was the creation of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions.  While the PC version will be completed first by the end of this year, the PlayStation ports should be available by early 2017.

 

 

As we all know, games are very difficult to create, so we should always expect (and understand) delays, especially when the teams making them aren’t major studios and consist of a handful of dedicated people.  Being as this is their first crack at making a game, Pixelated Milk probably want everything to be as perfect as they can manage, and if a delay happens because they need more time to accomplish that goal, so be it.  A poor first showing could spell the end before their company really truly begins.  And that would be a shame.

If you’re a fan of tactical RPGs, this is definitely something to put on your list.  Sure, the Kickstarter campaign is over and done with, but you can still show your support by spreading the word over social media, as well as the obvious, by buying the game when it releases.

• A tactical JRPG-styled game with Persona-styled social link system and Disgaea-like combat
• A highly polished, role-playing experience with hand-drawn 2D graphics over 3D skeleton animations
• A full cast of professional voice talents and a lavish soundtrack from Game Audio Factory
• 30+ hours of gameplay, 7 huge regions to explore, and an impressive cast of 20+ characters to recruit, befriend and interact with through the Social Links system
• Light 4X elements such as developing your village, diplomacy, NPC-driven resource gathering, and replayability-boosting content

 

If you don’t typically dabble in tactical games or RPGs in general, and any of that sounds like a good time to you (and it definitely does to me), keep your eyes peeled for when this game launches.  Take a look at the new trailer to whet your appetite in the meantime:
